YMCA - GREATER HARTFORD, DOWNTOWN BRANCH: Diabetes Prevention information provided by: United Way of Connecticut

Diabetes Prevention Program helps overweight adults at risk for Type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and well-being. A year-long program, participants meet for 1-hour per week in a small group class with a trained Lifestyle Coach. The Lifestyle Coach provides class participants with the tools and the support necessary to facilitate their journeys toward healthier eating, increased physical activity, weight loss and sustainable behavior changes.


M-F: 5am-9pm; Sat: 7am-1pm; Sun: 9am-3pm

Set fee; Program participation includes a free family membership to your Greater Hartford YMCA; Financial assistance is available for those with demonstrated need based on household income and/or extenuating circumstances

Eligibility Requirements:
To participate in the program, you must be: At least 18 years old, Overweight (BMI > 25), and at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes as indicated by a confirmatory blood
value, pre-diabetes determined by clinical diagnosis of Gestational Diabet
