PUBLIC HEALTH, STATE OF CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF - DIABETES PREVENTION AND CONTROL PROGRAM: Diabetes Education and Prevention Program information provided by: United Way of Connecticut

Diabetes Education programs provided throughout the state consist of a self-management Live Well free six week, 2 1/2 hour workshop, is a group-based program designed especially for people with diabetes and those at-risk, ages 18+ residing in Connecticut. Sessions will touch on tips and tools to help manage an individuals condition or prevention techniques for those with a family history or with borderline conditions. The program goals include educating participants on what proper foods to eat, foot care issues, low and high blood sugar readings, and tips for dealing with stressful situations, to name a few.  Other prevention type programs for those with pre-diabetes or at risk of getting can also attend their local hospital or YWCA program.
