Child First Greater Bridgeport serves children ages prenatal through 5 years and their families living in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford, Easton, Trumbull, or Monroe. Child First is a federally designated evidence-based home visiting intervention embedded in an early childhood system of care that helps to heal and protect children and families from the devastating effects of trauma and chronic stress. This is accomplished by fostering the development of strong, nurturing, caregiver-child relationships, promoting adult capacity, and connecting families with needed services. Child First uses a two-generation approach, providing psychotherapy to parents and children together in their homes, and connecting them with the services they need to make healthy child development possible. Child First is also a school readiness model, with impressive increases in language development.
