School board to consider school-based mental health services

"There are just a lot of questions and we want to have answers defined so we can make the best decision," Thomas said.
Thomas said the school district has counselors and school psychologists but this would be an additional service to students to help address mental health issues.
"It would add on and enhance what we do for the delivery of services to our students," she said.
Other items on the agenda include:
The board will consider a policy revision to clarify rules for public participation at board meetings and the need to sign in to speak during public comment at least 10 minutes before meeting.
The board will also consider a revision to its policy on competitive food sales and restrictions on the sale of snacks during school hours.
A presentation on two new policies: One for Title I parent and family engagement to meet all requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act and another to align policy with state and federal parental involvement notification requirements.
