Autism Society of Greater Akron hosts presentation about care for family members

The Autism Society of Greater Akron (AGSA) is hosting a presentation by a psychologist to discuss the health of family members.

Research shows that mothers of adolescents with autism experience stress levels comparable to combat soldiers, and fathers of adult children with autism have symptoms severe enough to be diagnosed clinical depression.

The health of a family -- from marriage, to siblings, to self-care -- of those who live and love a child with a disability is often overlooked, which is why ASGA will host psychologist, author, and autism dad Robert Naseef, Ph.D.

"This Wasn't the Plan: Living and Learning Autism" will be held on Nov. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Tangier Event & Entertainment Center in Akron. The event includes dinner and a talk about taking care of the family, too. Each household will receive a copy of Naseef's book, Autism in the Family: Caring and Coping Together.

For more information about available ticket packages, visit www.autismakron.org/naseef. Individual tickets start at $25. Registration closes on Nov. 4th.
