Shooting reports in Southwest Austin related to mental health call, no danger to public, police say

Feb. 18--Police responded to reports of a shooting in Southwest Austin on Monday morning.

Officers received reports of the incident in the 5700 block of Kempson Drive, near Southwest Parkway and West William Cannon Drive, around 9:44 a.m., Austin police said.

First responders found a man who was alone inside his home suffering from a hand injury.

Police said the call was related to mental health, and that the man may have been shooting inside his home before officers arrived.
