County Department of Behavioral Health to host mental health meetings

Daily Press - 1/14/2019

Jan. 13--VICTORVILLE -- The San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health will host a series of community meetings to share public mental health services in the county.

These public stakeholder meetings will promote community dialogue and participation regarding the Mental Health Services Act Annual Update for the current fiscal year and facilitate discussion regarding the future of mental health policy and program planning in the county.

The MHSA (Prop 63) was passed by California voters in November 2004 to expand mental health services for children and adults. The Act is funded by a one percent tax surcharge on personal income over $1 million, per year.

"Participation in the stakeholder process is important because it gives residents both the opportunity to learn more about public services and their ability to influence those services," said MHSA Administrative Manager Michelle Dusick. "We encourage all community members to attend."

Stakeholder meetings will take place at several locations throughout the county, including the following locations in the Victorville.

Serenity Clubhouse / Desert Stars Clubhouse

11 a.m. on Jan. 22. The meeting will be held at 12625 Hesperia Rd., Ste. B in Victorville

Victor Community Support Service

Santa Fe Social Club Clubhouse

10:30 a.m. on Jan. 25. The meeting will be held at 15400 Cholame Rd. in Victorville

The Department of Behavioral Health, through the MHSA, is supporting the Countywide Vision by providing behavioral health and substance use disorder services that promote wellness, recovery, and resiliency in the community.
