Why does the job exist?
This position will provide comprehensive healthcare to Turquoise Lodge Hospital patients. Responsibilities will include assisting, diagnosing, prescribing, and referrals where appropriate.
How does it get done?
Must be a Certified Nurse Practitioner in accordance with section 63-3-23.2 of the New Mexico Nursing Practice Act, 61-3-1 NMSA 1978.
Who are the customers?
Adult patients with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
Experience Making Medical and Substance Use Diagnoses.
Experience taking medical histories and performing patient examinations
Experience Providing patient education regarding mental heath and substance Abuse
Master's Degree in a defined certified nursing specialty such as pharmacology, physical assessment, diagnosis, nurse practitioner skills, and advanced nursing physiology and pathophysiology. Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in accordance with section 63-3-23.2 of the New Mexico Nursing Practice Act, 61-3-1 NMSA 1978.
No substitutions. Must possess Required Licensure, Certification or Registration and required number of years of experience
This position is designated safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.
Work is performed in an Acute care hospital setting involving extended periods of walking, sitting, standing, bending and long periods on the phone and computer and exposure to potentially violent patients in a volatile situation requiring crisis interventions. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. This position may be required to work weekends and /or nights.
