The Committee on Aging reported through SEN. MARONEY of the 14th Dist., Chairperson of the Committee on the part of the Senate, that the substitute bill ought to pass.

AN ACT CONCERNING A COMMUNITY OMBUDSMAN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

6administered by the Department of Social Services. Not later than

7September 1, 2019, the State Ombudsman and the Commissioner of

8Social Services shall submit a report to the joint standing committees of

9the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to aging

10and human services identifying: (1) The persons to be served in the

11Community Ombudsman program, (2) the types of services to be

12offered under such program, and (3) appropriations needed to staff the

13Community Ombudsman program.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

The bill requires the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) to develop a Community Ombudsman program has no fiscal impact. It is anticipated that DORS and the Department of Social Services have the expertise to determine: 1) the persons to be served by the program,

2)services to be provided, and 3) the appropriation needed to staff the program.
